The History of Photography

Ever wonder how photography was first created? People in the olden days realized that the exposure to light is what causes the objects to be visibly altered. It’s the same effect that happens when you leave your bike out in the rain and leave it out to dry in the sun. They were not able to access the technology that we have now.

Photography has been around for many years and continues to advance with each generation. The old cameras that were made were actually better quality than ever. Nowadays, Apple has been enhancing their iPhone’s camera with each new update little by little.

In the 1800s it used to take a lot of work in order to be able to take a photo and have it processed. It was cheaper back then, but it would take several days until people would be able to receive their photos. The word photography is Greek and means “drawing with light”.

Once photography became a thing, many people would use it instead of paintings since they were quicker. Many photographs were portraits of individuals or even groups. There were many landscape sceneries taken as well. Photography became a simple way for people to be able to create memories. It also allows you to be able to get either the same or even more of a different perspective in an artsy way.

Photography is not only able to capture memories but creates stories to promote different things. Many use it for propaganda for politics. The way a photographer angles the camera makes all the difference in order to capture the right sayings. Napoleon Bonaparte’s quote “a picture is worth a thousand words” is true because when something is hard to put into words, a picture can say it all by the way it is taken and the emotion the subject portrays.
